Jason HallвЂ™s vocals are relentless yet catchy, often placed in a tug-of-war with the music to generate intensity. The rhythm section is very dynamic and keep us on our toes with great variations. Written in tribute to the late David Jones ( Enemy You), itвЂ™s a five-minute ballad with a notable вЂ90s influence of emotional volume dynamics and solemn vocals. While most of the record is forceful and angry, album closer вЂњYour Life Is PreciousвЂќ is a step outside the norm. Three founding members are still active and original bassist Tyson вЂњChickenвЂќ Annicharico joined the group for their studio session. For the most part, though, Western Addiction hasnвЂ™t changed drastically. ThatвЂ™s how it works throughout the record, spewing anger and frustration, but sometimes taking a deep breath and settling the (tremulous) nerves before the next anxious wave.ДЄfter a decade away from the studio, itвЂ™s no surprise to have member changes.
